As I was taking a walk this morning, I found this little flower growing in a crack of an abandoned runway. It immediately reminded me to “Bloom Where You’re Planted”!
As this little flower has found itself (by no fault of it’s own- I might add) trying to grow amidst hard, stony ground with out all the proper nutrients or enough shade or water, I can feel that way too some times. We can even put ourselves in those positions through choices we have made.
None the less, let us forget what is behind and press forward toward the prize. Let us dig our convictions and commitments down deep and stay firmly planted not growing weary so that we will produce a harvest (or a flower;-).
The fruit comes from the commitment and the perseverance of staying -not manufacturing fruit! Stay the course!
This flower’s extreme perseverance in the hot sun all summer reminds me of Vetiver!! It is an Essential Oil that has many excellent properties including being used as a treatment for sun stroke and dehydration! It is also helpful for healing wounds and scars, it is anti-inflammatory and anti -septic as well as boosts the immune system!

Happy Fourth of July! Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.
Last year at this time we featured a remarkable essential oil: Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum). I got a bad burn over the Independence Day holiday, and I used helichrysum hydrosol with amazing results!
Visit Pompeii Organics for information on helichrysum essential oil and hydrosol.

Just a little edgy humor 🙂 In all honesty, helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum) is an amazing oil for all kinds of issues! (Our information today comes from the Aromatic Wisdom Institute’s information on helichrysum.)
The herb is analgesic, which means it helps relieve pain; it regenerates the cells; and it heals the skin, making it wonderful for any kind of wound. This past weekend, I got a bad burn on my ankle. The skin blistered up and it was awful! Right away I sprayed on some helichrysum hydrosol, as I’ve done every day since then. The burn has gotten dramatically better every day!
Helichrysum is also anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, and anti-allergenic. It is an effective anti-depressant, being emotionally balancing and very helpful to heal deep emotional trauma.
One of the best things about helichrysum is that it is non-toxic and non-irritating, making it very versatile. It is great blended with other oils, especially arnica for pain relieving and bruise healing properties.
Is your interest in helichrysum piqued? We sell the oil itself and we feature it in blends like our joint and muscle lotion! We love using this amazing plant and we hope you learn to love it too!
Have you ever used helichrysum oil or hydrosol? What do you think? We want to hear from you!
We can all have stress. Just living in this modern world can produce a stress like humans have not experienced thus far. Cell Phones, Computers, TV’s and News, jobs, terror…….all in our face 24/7.
But there are some situations in your life that can produce such a level of stress that you can not easily “file” and sort out in your brain. You may try, but find you have reoccurring dreams, flash backs or un explained panic. It is possible you are experiencing a form of Post Traumatic Stress.
I know I have tended to think of that only in terms of the military. But there have been 2 times in my life that I have been diagnosed with it and I have had a “seemingly” normal- non military life!
You may have witnessed/ or have been involved in a bad accident. You may have been a care giver for a sick child or elderly person for an extended period of time. You may have gone through a significant relationship issue- separation, divorce, addiction, etc. Or maybe have been the victim of some kind of abuse.
nourishingroots.com describes Post Traumatic symptoms like this;
There are three main classes of PTSD symptoms (source):
- Re-experiencing: intrusive memories, sleep disturbance, dissociation, intense anger or anxiety at memory
- Avoidance: avoidance, detachment, estrangement, numbing, “shutting down”
- Hyperarousal: nightmares, irritability, sleep disturbance, anger, aggression, impulsivity, panic attacks, exaggerated startle response
If you experience these symptoms you should take some care and time to think about where they may have originated. Definitely pray! “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 And seek out the help of a Licensed Therapist. Not all counselors are created equal! So get some feedback from others who have been there, and have received help and are able to move on with their lives.
I am currently using a blend to help with traumatic stress in my life. Lemon (uplifting) with Lavender (calming). I blend it into an inhaler and use as needed. You can apply this combination into a diffuser. You can also blend 3 drops of each into a carrier oil and apply…but do not do it on skin exposed to sun as lemon is photo toxic.

Today we want to share a new oil: Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)!
This is a popular scent in commercial products like lotions and room sprays, but the pure essential oil offers more than just a pretty smell! Our favorite oil comes from Pompeii Organics.
Lemongrass’ chemical makeup is mostly Aldehydes, a type of natural chemical that fights infection and soothes pain. This makes the oil excellent for fungal infections, irritation, and inflammation.
Lemongrass is great as an insect repellent. It also cools the body, making it useful for fevers, and is a wonderful digestive aid.
With this being said, however, it is imperative to use proper caution with Lemongrass. It’s not as gentle as other oils and can cause irritation to the skin. Use the lowest possible dilution and blend with more skin-friendly oils like Lavender (angustifolia) or Carrot Seed. NEVER take Lemongrass internally unless directed by a certified aromatherapist. These precautions will ensure that you use Lemongrass to its fullest potential!
Do you have any questions about this wonderful oil? Send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or check out the information from Pompeii Organics!
Hello all! Hope your week is going well!
Today I want to take a look at an oil I love to use in my proprietary blends: Cypress!
According to Pompeii Organics, cypress has strong astringent and diuretic properties. This makes it useful for skin issues, especially puffiness, swelling, oily skin, and varicose veins.
Cypress can also help with colds and flu. It decongests, fights inflammation, and soothes muscle spasms.
People have used cypress for restless leg syndrome, cramps, and swollen feet. It’s great to calm your muscles and skin!

According to Pompeii Organics, geranium is amazing for the skin. It’s an astringent and it also heals and rebuilds cells! It soothes inflammation and fights bacteria and fungus. It’s cooling to the skin; we recommend it to a lot of clients who deal with hot flashes.
Geranium is also used as an insect repellent. You can mix ten drops of it per ounce of lotion and apply before going out.
