Why We Love Pompeii Organics

If you’ve read this blog long enough, you know that we weekly refer to Pompeii Organics for information on essential oil safety and products. Today I want to share just why they’re so special to Honest Aromas!

Pompeii is a small business in Mifflinburg, PA that carries GC/MS tested, all organic or wild crafted essential, carrier oils, and hydrosols.

GC/MS reports show all the chemical components in essential oils, and Pompeii makes these reports readily available to their customers, meaning that you know exactly what is making up your oil – that it’s a hundred percent pure and ethical! This is a must for aromatherapists who need to know the chemical makeup of each substance for the most responsible and effective use, and most essential oil companies (even the big names) cannot say the same.

Pompeii gets their essential oils right from the source, meaning there’s no money-making middleman. Because it’s a small business committed to holistic health, we know they genuinely care about their customers and products!

I also know the staff personally; Tyler was a classmate of mine at the Aromatic Wisdom Institute (he also maintains his own business The Herbal Guy, where we get a lot of our carrier oils), and Jess Grill, the owner of Pompeii, is also a certified aromatherapist. We enjoy working “together”  in this world of holistic health!

Pompeii essential oils are what we at Honest Aromas primarily carry. We make them available to our customers for the best price! And because we know and love Pompeii so much, you know we are offering you the best.

Like Sweet Perfume

Here at Honest Aromas, we love playing around with essential oils to come up with new blends. The great thing about essential oils is that, although they primarily have therapeutic properties, they have nice smells too, and it can be a win-win to make something helpful that smells good. It’s like a double-duty perfume! 🙂

One of Hannah’s favorite oils to do this with is ylang ylang. Our favorite is this one, from Pompeii.

ylang ylang

Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) is an extremely sweet, floral oil. You’ve probably heard of it before – it’s quite popular in commercial lotions and bubble baths. But the scent of those chemical products has nothing on pure ylang ylang essential oil! It’s pungent and perfumy, and sort of makes you need to lie down a minute :).

So it suffices to say that you only need a tiny bit of ylang ylang to pack a punch. It’s very sedating and calming, and it helps soothe pain and anxiety. It’s also great for strengthening the immune system.

Hannah likes to mix a tiny bit of ylang ylang with some bergamot and peppermint oils. The mix of floral, orange, and mint scents is lovely and soothing, and the energizing mint and citrus helps take the edge off the sleepy ylang ylang :).

Are you interested in trying some ylang ylang? Let us know. We’d love to share it with you!

Have a great weekend, folks!

Geranium

Geranium (Pelargonium roseum) essential oil is something we sold out of at the Zelienople festival! This is an amazing oil with a ton of helpful properties.

According to Pompeii Organics, geranium is amazing for the skin. It’s an astringent and it also heals and rebuilds cells! It soothes inflammation and fights bacteria and fungus. It’s cooling to the skin; we recommend it to a lot of clients who deal with hot flashes.

Geranium is also used as an insect repellent. You can mix ten drops of it per ounce of lotion and apply before going out.

Are you interested in trying this amazing oil? Send us an email or give us a call. We want to hear from you!

Not Christmas Yet

Don’t you hate how Christmas pops up in stores before its proper time? Us too, but we can’t resist telling you about a very Christmassy oil: Scotch Pine (Pinus sylvestrus)!

Pine isn’t just a nice smell at Christmas; it’s also an amazing health and cleaning ingredient. According to Pompeii Organics, pine helps decongest and soothe respirator passages, making it great for cold and flu season. It is very effective as a steam inhalation to clean out sinuses and kill germs!

Pine is a warming oil, meaning it helps with stiff and sore muscles and joints by increasing circulation. It fights inflammation and spasms.

Pine essential oil is also used in green cleaners. Visit Pompeii to find a recipe!

Thank you do everyone who supported us at the Zelienople Harmony Country Fall Festival! We had a lot of fun and loved connected with you all.

Interested in trying pine? Let us know by email or give us a call. You can order through us and save money! You don’t need to wait for Christmas to try it 🙂

Carrots!

Or more specifically, carrot seeds. Wild carrot (Daucas carota, also called Queen Anne’s Lace), is a valuable food and remedy! We currently carry carrot seed essential oil from Pompeii Organics, and this little-known essential oil is actually super interesting!

According to Pompeii’s site, carrot seed oil has an earthy aroma that smells, well, carrot-ey. It is especially nourishing to the skin, making it great for wounds, rashes, sunburn, and scars.

Carrot seed is also emotionally grounding and has effects similar to cedarwood, patchouli, and vetiver.

We just started carrying carrot seed oil and we sell it for a reasonable price. Interested? Email us or give us a call. We’d be thrilled to share some carrot love! 🙂

Have you ever tried carrot seed oil? Would you like to? Let us know what you think!
