You Don’t Have To Be A Nabob!( A very wealthy, influential or powerful person;-)

As promised, I am highlighting a spectacular oil at the perfect time of year! The resin form of this OIl has a very deep history…enjoy:-)

Honest Aromas

Do you remember the account of the three wise men? Three wise men from the east came to Bethlehem following a star and a prophecy and wanted to worship the king who was born. By the time they found him ( just camels, no modern transportation!!), he was a small child.

“And when they had come into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him, gold, frankincense and Myrrh.” Matthew 2:11

What important visitors!! The gifts represented were prized, unique and uncommon for a simple carpenter and his family. I do not personally know any one  who has had dignitaries to come and  celebrate the birth of a child or personally know royalty! But we common folk can use this ancient resin in our modern lives and aromatherapy repertoire!

Frankincense and Myrrh

And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh (Matthew 2:11).

We’ve covered frankincense and myrrh on the blog before, but because they’re so relevant to the Christmas season, we thought we’d share them again!

The three Magis’ gifts to the infant Jesus: gold, frankincense, and myrrh, were not only valuable gifts, but also symbolic ones. Gold of course was a very kingly gift, frankincense was incense commonly offered to gods, and myrrh was an embalming herb. The three gifts represent Jesus’ role as a divine, yet mortal king while He was on earth.

Interestingly enough, these gifts are still significant today. Frankincense and myrhh are precious and powerful oils that are great to have in your essential oils collection. (Gold is pretty nice too, but that’s outside our area of expertise 😉 .)

Frankincense’s (Boswellia carteri) scent is earthy and spicy, and it has wonderful healing properties!

According to Pompeii Organics, Frankincense fights pain and inflammation. It helps regenerate skin cells, making it great for scars. With its mucous-ridding and bacteria-killing properties, it’s helpful for treating colds and clearing respiratory passages. It also strengthens the immune system.

Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), according to the Aromatic Wisdom Institute, is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal. It helps relieve pain and regenerate the skin. It decongests and warms the body, making it perfect for respiratory issues.

Myrrh is usually  non-toxic and non-irritating, but I do caution pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to avoid it, as its chemical components can be toxic to infants.
