Aromatherapy Tips!

Nothing is a silver bullet,  but every shift you make toward health supports your holistic big picture. Essential Oils and Aromatherapy are a wonderful and fun way to support all over health! Although essential oils have a fragrance, they are not fragrance oils. They have natural chemical components that support your emotions and your immune system and there is much scientific research to back that up!

Honest Aromas is all about using essential oils safely! Always use essential oils in a carrier for ultimate safety! A carrier is anything that you mix the essential oil into before application. In your diffuser, the carrier would be the water that you place the drops into. Diffusing is the safest method of using essential oils!

Other carriers that could be used are; Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Hemp seed oil, Shea butter, Vitamin E, Epsom salt, sea salt, sugar, etc. The carrier puts a protective barrier between your skin, it can help with a fast or slow absorption rate and the carrier, many times, adds an extra therapeutic value!

Here is a great dilution rate rule of thumb:

Here is an easy recipe for you to try!

Calming lotion:

Blend 5-6 drops Lavendula angustifolia  into 1 ounce of an unscented lotion. Blend well with a glass mixer or baby spoon. Smooth on your hands, wrists, ankles and feet to de- stress your evening and support sleep. Enjoy!

We hope this has been a helpful tid-bit and we are always happy to help in any way we can! We are available for classes and presentations for your home or office. Shoot us an email anytime- we want to hear from you!

It Takes A Little Time…

20170515_123806

Beautiful things do not happen by chance! There is a process…a seed, a sprout, and eventually a flower. I planted this Clematis last year, and it was so small and spindly, I didn’t know if it would make it. I was so presently surprised to find this flower blooming on the arch of my patio yesterday!!

It reminds me of the journey I have been on over the last few years. Broken relationships, little life and then, slow-but-sure, signs of life here and there. Giving my self up to God’s will, soaking in the truth of who I am in Him, letting His Spirit water me, lead me, and guide me and watching it grow and reach out to others.  It has taken time, but some deep, beautiful things are blooming.

There are so many wide and shallow….it takes time to be deeply beautiful- and then turn and give that beauty away to some one else! I am right here with you on the journey and would love to hear from you today<3

Choosing Forgiveness

easter.jpg

I’ve been understanding forgiveness on a whole new level over the last year. I’ve dealt with asking for forgiveness, forgiving myself, forgiving others and not being forgiven. One thing I completely agree with James McDonald on: “Christians need to be masters at forgiveness.” This is a challenging thought, but it’s true. And whether you’re a Christian or not, you know forgiveness changes your life and allows things to move in a healthy way that would be impossible otherwise.

The biggest challenge and help to me has been to understand that, “I am completely forgiven and fully pleasing to God. I am totally accepted, deeply loved and absolutely complete in Christ” (Robert McGee, The Search for Significance).

With God’s help in believing this is true, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! I want to be rebuilt and energized in that truth, so I can do everything I was created to do in this life and not waste one more second in unbelief.

I want to encourage you that this is possible! You can change your life, your patterns, your habits, your hangups, and your failures. You can take that mustard seed of faith and it can grow into a flourishing tree!

I completely relate to King David when he said, “I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of The Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13). Forgiveness is not an easy road, and the battle is mostly in the mind. But unless I believe (without seeing) that forgiveness produces good fruit and leads to a more abundant life, I will give in to hopelessness and despair. I have been there many times, and it does not bear anything good! Not for me or any one else around me.

So, I am encouraging myself even as I write this, and hope I encourage you today!I encourage you to check your heart, investigate the things that weigh you down, and ask yourself if there is an area in your life (or that situation you can’t let go of) in which you really haven’t forgiven a person, or even God. Don’t let this day pass without getting it out in the open, confessing it, and receiving forgiveness for it. Don’t carry it around another minute, day, or year. This is precisely the Reconciliation Jesus Christ provided to us through the cross and what we can meditate on further through this Resurrection weekend. The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John can greatly aid us on this journey of forgiveness<3

Arrow Root, Healthy Tummies and Weight Loss.

arrowrootinfo-700x525

Here are some healthy ideas to help you continue on your health journey! As I told you a while ago, I have been on an ongoing detox to help re build my liver. Some of the recipes I have come across, include arrow root. As I started eating these recipes….I realized that it immediately increased my elimination! Since that is a definite benefit, especially while on a detox diet, I decided to check out this little wonder!

Here are some facts from Organic Facts;

Arrowroot

Arrowroot is not technically a plant in itself, but rather a type of starch that can be readily obtained from the roots of numerous different plants and rhizomes. This high nutrient density starch has been very valuable to a number of indigenous cultures dating back more than 7,000 years, but despite the fact that so many herbal remedies have been disproven or have gone out of use, arrowroot remains an important and effective remedy for many different health conditions. It can be used as a replacement in many foods, rather than flour or corn. Essentially arrowroot powder can be a healthier alternative to the more common cooking ingredients for breads, pastas, and cakes. Arrowroot is also gluten-free, which makes it all the more valuable today with the rising incidence of Celiac disease in many countries.

Stomach Concerns: Celiac disease seems to be the new global pandemic, and as the numbers continue to climb around the world, people are seeking gluten-free alternative to traditional starches and wheat. Arrowroot is a gluten-free substance, making it very popular in recent years, as it can prevent the gastrointestinal discomfort, pain, and danger that those handling a gluten intolerance must face every day.

Weight Loss Concerns: Arrowroot is extremely low in calories as compared to other starches like yams, potatoes, or cassava. For this reason, people trying to remain on a diet can get complex carbohydrates and a wealth of nutrients, as well as a healthy dose of dietary fiber, and eliminate the desire to snack between meals. Arrowroot fills you up and gives you the minerals and vitamins your body needs.

Digestion: Dietary fiber is one of the most important parts of our digestive process, as it helps move food through the bowels in an efficient manner, while also stimulating the uptake of nutrients. It can eliminate issues of constipation and diarrhea, and manage blood sugar levels to prevent the onset of diabetes. Finally, dietary fiber can help to clear out excess cholesterol, further promoting cardiovascular health.

So, replacing flour with arrowroot would be one significant health benefit! Gut health is KEY to overall health. There are so many other benefits and it is a great thickener (can be used in place of eggs if your sensitive.)

Diet, Exercise, Mental health, Faith, Supplements and Aromatherapy all help support as we travel through this life…it is a holistic approach. I am right here with you walking it out and would love to hear from you today:-)

A Life That Matters…..

As I said in an earlier blog, Christmas time, although promoted as a warm, cozy, relational time, can be a time of anxiety and loneliness for many.

Those feelings beg me to ask, is my life a life that matters? If I do not feel what I am doing matters, I do not feel that my life matters. My friend, Lyndell Hetrick Holtz, wrote about this on her Heart Mender’s Blog-  I Too Want a Life that Matterscheck it out! She has a very  concise  way of facing life’s hard things. She  often says; “Face it, Feel it, Free it”!

I gain great comfort in that when I consider the only way to any healing is to face the issue or failure head on. We tend to avoid  hard things because we think it is easier to do so. We do it in little ways or it can become Excessive Avoidance Disorder– and our culture is heaped in it. We avoid doing hard things, keeping commitments, and putting the work in first and it is destructive.

If we want to have holistic health, it is going to take more than swallowing a vitamin every now and then. It is going to take facing our dilemma,  whether we caused it or some one else did. Feel the pain of it, express it out loud, or write down your thoughts in a journal. And then open your hands and release it. I will stand where ever I am, lift my hands to God and tell Him all of my concerns. I will tell Him, I have no power over this, only the power to release it to you. And then I will say, I trust you are working all these things for good in my life and I release this to you. It is weighing me down, I feel insignificant, I feel like I am not seeing any benefit to getting up and doing what is right every day. Many times I will write that down and put it on my cupboard, to remind my self that it is not my burden.

To live a life that matters, we need to be different than the masses. Routines are awesome. Habits will work for our good or our detriment! If I get up every morning and pray and exercise, that is going to lead me to a different destination than having a cigarette with my coffee and do nut!! (You may chuckle, but this was my early life!!) Holistic health will effect all of your life and the little things you change will have an everlasting impact! If a plane takes off and it is even a little bit off it’s course, in the end of that trajectory, it is not going to land at it’s destination!

If you are sad, lonely and really struggling today, please consider what I have said. I want to help you with the help I have received. Check out Lyndell’s blog and other encouraging people like Rick Warren and Dr. John Townsend. You do not have to stay where you are! How do you want to have a life that matters? What do you want your destination to be?

We are right here with you cheering you on!! Head into the weekend, with a renewed sense of your life mattering. Lay aside the pressure from culture and  glean the true meaning of Christmas in the Gospels of, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John! We want to hear from you today:-)

Motivational Monday!!

seize-the-day

Good Morning! Good Week!! It is a beautiful, cold and sunny day here in North West PA! There is a lot of excitement building for Christmas this coming weekend. The kids are antsy and distracted in school with parties and class Christmas movies!

Unfortunately, anxiety can be a big problems this time of year. I have said this before on some blogs,  I do not like all the hype that surrounds “Christmas”. I do not like crowds, parties are actually not my favorite….I would prefer deep, one- on- one conversation. I do not appreciate the expectation that is placed on us this time of year from advertisements and culture and it is hard to ignore.

Christmas, to me, is the birth of Christ. Because of sin, as is evident in the wounds, destruction, disfigurement and marring of people, relationships and the world, God sent His Son into the world! All of the despair that is in the world would be permanent and irreversible except that Jesus came to deliver us from our sin! (Matthew 1:21)

That is Good News Today! There are situations in my own life that seem hopeless, but with God all things are possible. They may be irreversible in human terms, but Not in God’s economy!

God is reaching out to you through the Christmas story and even as you are reading this saying; “I love you, I made a way for you, I want to spend eternity with you because I am madly in love with you.” Bitterness can go, forgiveness can be received and extended.” He lived so He could die for you (and me).

Receive the gift God sent you, It is the greatest gift you can ever receive or give<3

Holiday time can be a stressful time! I admit, I do not like the commercialism of the season. I would choose simplicity in decorations….like none of them!!!
