Honest Aromas is Expanding!

Hello Everyone! I am very excited to share that I have been on another personal growth journey. Lately I have been working toward my Certification as a Spiritual Life Coach and have obtained my first Certificate through the American Association of Christian Counselors!

This is a motivating time for me and I wanted to share it with all of you, my friends who have walked my journey with me! I look forward to shifting what I currently do as an Aromatherapist, to be available to walk others through their times of uncertainty and light each step of my client’s path, to the life they were created to live! I will use Aromatherapy in my Coaching practice as an option,  or a method, of creating much needed margin in my client’s life, as well as reducing  transitional stress.

I will still be available for Aromatherapy Services, like I always have been, to offer the personalized aromatherapy products and education that my customers have come to expect from Honest Aromas!

I have been working on an improved website to tie all of this together, as I continue my education, to better communicate who I am and what my passion is. I love to engage in conversations, build relationships and offer others hope as they walk through confusing times of transition.  I have had many in the community of faith, friends, family, counselors and a life coach help me through the dark times of my life and I want to offer that same support to others!!

” This isn’t the end of your story. It is the first chapter of  your new novel.”

Thank you for always being so supportive and kind and thank you for cheering me on to the next chapter! I am right here walking this path of wholeness with you and would love to hear from you today!

Honest Aromas Classes!

DSC_0444

Honest Aromas has had a record number of classes this year! Our Intro to Aromatherapy class leaves students feeling like they’ve learned important information, no matter what level of aromatherapy knowledge they had before. The feedback has been amazing.

Often we see people hesitant to sign up for one of our classes. They’ve been to a big-name, multi-level-networking essential oil “class” before, only to come away so disappointed because it was really just a heavy sales pitch. They ask us, “Is your thing really a class, or are you just trying to sell something?”

I assure them that this is a class that they will definitely learn a lot from. Our classes aren’t just dry and academic; they’re hands-on and, if we say so, pretty fun! Each one of our students has been overjoyed after a two and a half-hour session.

In our classes, you will get a brief history of aromatherapy. You will also gain understanding in the chemical makeup of essential oils, as well as their safe use. Then you will put your knowledge to the test, creating your own blends with a certified aromatherapist (yours truly) on hand to answer any questions!

Sessions range from $25-$35 a class depending on the goal. We can also custom design a class for your needs.

Book your class by sending us a line at honestaromatherapy@gmail.com! We want to hear from you today!

Holiday Parties…

Holiday time can be a stressful time! I admit, I do not like the commercialism of the season. I would choose simplicity in decorations….like none of them!!!

I am a giving person in general, so I do not like this pressure dictating that I should give on a particular day of the year! I want to give time, I want to give an experience, I want to give growth, I want to give health!

So, if you feel like we do at Honest Aromas, why not have an Honest Aroma’s Party?  It can be a memorable experience with the people who matter most to you. It is educational and warm- we are not a network marketing company. Every can leave feeling important and being encouraged on a new adventure of holistic health. You will need to book soon as the dates are filling up for the month! We have customized parties and you will receive 30% off your purchases!! That is an amazing incentive and discount.

Email us today to secure your time at honestaromatherapy@gmail.com.  Love and Joy come to you- we want to hear from you today!!

Faith and Aromatherapy

Here at Honest Aromas, we like to think we offer a unique look at aromatherapy. Because we’re a business run by Christians, we believe that God’s wisdom and grace are the basis of all good things.

Because of this, we believe that we provide an interesting perspective on a good thing (aromatherapy) that doesn’t always get to be looked at from a Christian lens. While aromatherapists of all faiths and convictions are immensely helpful, intelligent, and intuitive, we are thankful for the opportunity to explore holistic health from this relitively unusual perspective.

To us, aromatherapy is just another piece of evidence that “through everything God made, [people] can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature” (Romans 1:20 NLT). We believe that all creation reflects God, and there are few aspects of nature that so poignantly illustrate this as aromatherapy!

Aromatherapy, far from being a pseudoscientific study, is quite literally “plant-medicine.” Very powerful essential oils condense the medicinal qualities of plants—which God made and which people have been using for thousands of years—so that we can grow in better health in well-being! The fact that God created plants with this ability is mind-blowing: it testifies to his love and desire for healing!

We could talk all day about the spiritual parallels we draw between Christianity and aromatherapy, so don’t hesitate to ask us any questions! We love sharing as much as we can about this fascinating study.

Have a healthy week!

Not Just a Pretty Smell

One of the most common reactions we receive when we are out and about promoting our products is skepticism. Often when people see our little bottles and hear our claims, they laugh and shake their heads.

“Ah, yeah, the ‘elixir of life,'” they’ll roll their eyes.

Or, “how can a smell do all that?”

It’s understandable for there to be a little cynicism. Because essential oils are a bit of a fad right now, and because there isn’t a huge medical professional following, a lot of people tend to think that aromatherapy is in the realm of amateurs and quacks. Even people who believe EO’s are beneficial can tend to think that it’s the smell alone that helps. Of course, a little research proves both of these viewpoints quite wrong.

Aromatherapy is extremely scientific, and if studied and practiced correctly it can be enormously beneficial. It’s important to remember that plants have been around a lot longer than modern medicine. Plant medicine makes a wonderful first resort and complement that a lot of modern remedies are merely designed to mimic.

The first step in seeing essential oils correctly is to think of them not just as smells but as substances composed of natural chemicals. When we think of the word “chemicals” we can tend to make bad connotations. But chemicals are natural too! It’s the man-made ones that can hurt our bodies. Essential oils, being from plants, have natural chemicals from those plants. The chemical makeup also creates a smell, which is what we notice about the oils.

When you breathe in a scent, the smell travels up your nose to the thousands of receptors that connect your sense of smell to your brain. Your limbic system – the parts of the brain that respond to smell – then sends messages to the rest of your brain, affecting emotions, memories, thoughts, and behavior depending on the parts of the limbic system that are stimulated, which depends on which receptors responded, which depends on the smell. This is why they say smell is one of the most powerful senses – it can bring back childhood memories and emotions that otherwise lay dormant. (Source)

This is all a pretty simplified overview of olfactory and limbic processes. But you can see how even a little bit of research opens up a whole new world in aromatherapy! Maybe you’re a skeptic, or maybe you love essential oils but haven’t learned in depth why they’re so great. Hopefully this information whets your appetite to learn more. I was astounded when I went to school at the Aromatic Wisdom Institute. It was amazing to learn the mechanics of why aromatherapy is so effective. I hope you’ve learned at least a bit as well!

If you ever have any questions, send me an email! I love sharing information. That’s why I’m here!

Strong as Cedarwood

The wood from cedar trees is known for its resilience and its ability to repel pests like moths. Funnily enough, Cedarwood oil has a similar effect on life circumstances, helping to support and boost confidence in the midst of challenging situations, creating resilience and repelling pests in the events of life.

I am back at school at the Aromatic Wisdom Institute in Selinsgrove. It’s my last week here, when I will graduate with my certification as an aromatherapist.

Spring is in full swing, and the area is beautiful. I am so blessed to get to spend time from here, where it’s so peaceful and pretty!

As I’ve been taking in this gorgeous scenery, I am pondering both challenging and celebratory events going on in my life right now. I am reminded that in nature we see the ongoing cycle of changing circumstances, renewal, and new life. God in the Bible confirms this, that the world goes round and things change. But He promises that He will always stay the same – constant, supportive, and resilient.

I am so thankful for this strong, grounding hope. I am thankful that we can experience it in something as simple as oil from the cedar tree, enduring, grounding, and calming.

Cedarwood oil also helps removes excess mucous from respiratory system for those seasonal allergies, and also kills insects. It is dependable, it is protective, it is resilient.

And when the Bible says that creation bears witness to the glory of God, I can see what it means, even in a thing like cedarwood.

Have you ever tried cedarwood oil? How was it beneficial for you?
