Make A Difference!

cook-festival-table.jpg

This post is to encourage me as much as I hope to encourage you! I shared a sample of it yesterday on LinkedIn.

This weekend I was a vendor at a festival that , in the past, has been wildly successful. The temp had dropped about 20 degrees and all day there was a persistent, steady rain. It was quite gloomy.

For the first 2 hours I only had one customer. I know for certain God sent me that customer, because He wanted to reveal something to me in the way of perspectives. His name was Logan and  he was an amazing 5th grade young man, who wanted to buy a migraine inhaler for his mother (so thoughtful!). He said,  “she would love your business!!”, because she ran a yoga studio and likes to use Aromatherapy with yoga. He then asked me if I would like her name and number!! (Natural Net Worker!)

He told me how his dad was called in last minute to make hamburgers for this particular event, (good example of a positive attitude, dad!). He told me  how his dad played football in college, how his grandpa was pro football until he was injured and how he instead chose wrestling and loves it! (Confident, non-conformer!)  He told me he decided to check out the vendors while his dad was busy. (Showing flexibility in his own morning plans being changed.)

Through the things Logan said with his mouth and said with his body language, he completely inspired me to be my best despite the circumstances! His confidence and positivity was a stark contrast to the dismal, complaining vendors who surrounded me. This interaction with Logan encouraged me to continue to stand up, smile and bring some sunshine to the attendees through out the day, and finish strong when others were closing up shop early.

Guess what? I didn’t do so bad! My sales were down from previous years but they were definitely worth the effort of participating.  I also engaged in mutually helpful conversations and made some great contacts…including Logan’s mom!  I noticed that the vendors who were hunkered down in their seats who were just trying to stay warm, had little or no traffic. Passers by would look over at their booth, but there was no warm invite to proceed in for a closer look!

Through this interaction, I realized that all of the things I have been learning the last several years: the mind renewal, the Autism education, family dynamic counseling, therapies, the set backs, the messiness… has all just really served to make me a stronger, more positive person! I tend to look through situations now and ask God what He is doing in them! I most likely would not have had such a long conversation with such a wonderful young man (who by the way, could be a better employee at age 11, than most!) if it had been a sun-shiny, busy festival day. I definitely give thanks for that opportunity! It was my absolute joy and pleasure.

The moral is: Stay Positive despite your circumstances- there is always something to learn and some way to grow through it.  There is also another moral: I can tell Logan is well loved and cared for- parenting is a tough job and it is never too late to start over with your kids! No one holds more influence over them than you!  #makeadifference #there’sonlyoneyou

Honest Aromas is Expanding!

Hello Everyone! I am very excited to share that I have been on another personal growth journey. Lately I have been working toward my Certification as a Spiritual Life Coach and have obtained my first Certificate through the American Association of Christian Counselors!

This is a motivating time for me and I wanted to share it with all of you, my friends who have walked my journey with me! I look forward to shifting what I currently do as an Aromatherapist, to be available to walk others through their times of uncertainty and light each step of my client’s path, to the life they were created to live! I will use Aromatherapy in my Coaching practice as an option,  or a method, of creating much needed margin in my client’s life, as well as reducing  transitional stress.

I will still be available for Aromatherapy Services, like I always have been, to offer the personalized aromatherapy products and education that my customers have come to expect from Honest Aromas!

I have been working on an improved website to tie all of this together, as I continue my education, to better communicate who I am and what my passion is. I love to engage in conversations, build relationships and offer others hope as they walk through confusing times of transition.  I have had many in the community of faith, friends, family, counselors and a life coach help me through the dark times of my life and I want to offer that same support to others!!

” This isn’t the end of your story. It is the first chapter of  your new novel.”

Thank you for always being so supportive and kind and thank you for cheering me on to the next chapter! I am right here walking this path of wholeness with you and would love to hear from you today!

How My Business Started at A Festival On A Summer Day

20180524_064752

I am sitting here in the sun of my bedroom window, listening to the melody  of the birds and taking in the cool, cleansing air of the morning.

I have a lot to do today. I will be going downstairs to my lab to blend oils for an order that was placed by a local store that I would like to ship today. I will also be creating and organizing all of the products I will be taking to my first festival of the season!

When I received my certification in Aromatherapy three years ago, my daughter suggested that we launch out in business by offering my knowledge at one of my favorite Herb Festivals. I blended a bunch of products that I felt were successful through the case studies that I was responsible to conduct while in school, and she went to work on branding my business! I was hoping I would sell something, and was hoping I could engage someone with my interest and passion in holistic health, I was not prepared for what followed!

To date, The Herb Festival in Cook Forest, PA, is one of my most successful festivals! That first festival three years ago showed me that I had something people were interested in investing in, but there is a whole other perspective. I was not just an Aromatherapist, or business owner, I became a fellow vendor! It is an exciting and, at times, exhilarating position. I could not have considered what amazing networking would take place and the friendships that would blossom through this experience. This experience has been a whole new facet and extension of what makes Julia, Julia!

…And the Attendees! I have met so many people, heard so many stories, and connected in ways that have built a caring customer base and vehicle to teach the chemistry of Aromatherapy. I would not be able to sell things that I didn’t believe in, just for the sake of selling. I care about people and I want to help them in ways that I can, and that is the heart behind Honest Aromas.

This particular venue is my favorite. I love the woods, I get grounded in the forest, there is a part of me that awakens and becomes alive! I love the smell of moss and earth, the fragrance of silty creeks and rivers, and the utter calm walking under hemlocks.  And many of the people who attend the festivals that I participate in are just my kind of people! They are, by and large, interested in health, natural entrepreneurs and creative souls…my tribe!

So, this morning I have an anxious excitement! I have a lot to prepare for and a transition to make from school mode into festival mode. This season has less accountability and more flexibility, but I need to kick up my self government to get necessary things done! I thank you all for your support and patronage, thank you for contributing to my personal and business growth, and  I look forward to seeing and meeting you this summer at the Honest Aromas tent!

A Satisfied Customer’s Review…

20160915_191038

This is what a customer had to say about some of our products she purchased this week! With Spring upon us, you may want to try some of our natural products as well:-)

“I met Julie at a vendor/craft show in the summer and loved the allergy/sinus inhaler. I finally needed a new one, so i decided to get the 3-pack listed on her website (sinus/allergy relief, migraine relief, & insomnia relief). Not only was shipping cheap and very quick, Julia sent an extra re-focus inhaler as well as a reimbursement for shipping! Thank you so much!! Would recommend to anyone looking to try something natural instead of pharmaceutical meds.” -Ashley

Essential oils are plant medicine; natural,  powerful and effective! It is so great to have positive feedback and return customers! All of our products on line are our most popular products that keep customers coming back! This particular bundle is $13.99 USD. We also love to design personalized products, by a Certified Aromatherapist, as well for individual needs. How can we help you? We would love to hear from you today!

Lime-Mint Lip Balm!

My daughter, and lovely assistant, Gabrielle and I made a new summer Lip Balm! Our Lip Balm is made with Coconut oil, Local Bees wax and Raw honey, blended with pucker-up lime (not photo-sensitive) and a hint of mint to protect those lips of yours this summer!

As you can see, making lip balm is not too difficult at all and is a fun summer activity! But if you would like to save yourself all the expense, we would love for you to try ours…we think you will love it!!

Friends in Time

20170608_204602

Each Day I find, miracles in my life, gifts so great they could only be yours

Friends in time, changes kind, strength from your loving hand

I’m on my way, bearing the new man.

Lord, Here’s my life, heal my heart, heal my soul.

Lord, Here’s my life, as I seek you, make me whole,

Here’s my life, Oh Lord, make me whole.

This is my friend that I met while I was at school for Aromatherapy. God brought us together through our love of holistic health! Her husband and her were with in three hours of our home and we were able to to meet up half way and spend an evening together! I really thought the chances of ever seeing her again were slim to none!

It brought to mind the words of the song that I wrote many years before. Friends in time. I have been so blessed to know so many incredible people, so diverse, so loving, so kind, strong, opinionated, and courageous……always in my heart, even if we do not get to see each other for years.

We all need each other don’t we? And all of my friends make up parts of who I am. I have learned from them all, even (and probably especially) the ones who may have parted my company. Iron sharpens iron and love never truly fades away.

It was actually surreal that I could hold her and see her and talk- which both of us couples did for hours! Listening to each other’s journeys over the last few years and we have both been on some unexpected, adventurous journeys!! Growing in faith and trust, and looking to the future with expectation. I re count it today, and I am very thankful for the opportunity to see each other. ❤
