Nilla

download (4)I am sitting here this morning sipping on my usual beverage for this time of day, my “green drink”. It consists of arugula, coconut milk, cilantro,  red palm oil or coconut oil, ginger, raw honey, cinnamon and….vanilla extract. Yummmay! I love it, but I imagine it would be an acquired taste for most people!!

So, as I was blending it, I realized that I have never highlighted Vanilla in a blog, nor have I ever used Vanilla Essential Oil! After reading some information on it, I am excited to experiment with this versatile oil! Let’s see what you think!

The health benefits of Vanilla Essential Oil include;

Antioxidant qualities- It neutralizes free radicals and protects the body from infections and some caners such as prostate and colon.

Aphrodisiac- It stimulates the secretion of certain hormones to bring about a balance in sexual behavior….that’s all I’m gonna say about that;-)

Anti carcinogenic- Curbs growth of cancerous cells.

Febrifuge- Fever reducer! High in Eugenol and Vanillin Hydroxybenzaldehyde (believe it or not, a natural occurring chemical component!) which are great infection fighters.

Sedative- Which I think most people know that, but can also reduce inflammation because of that property.

Anti-depressant- Effective mood lifter. I don’t suggest eating a lot of Vanilla Ice Cream or Nilla Wafers to gain this benefit!! The weight gain and sugar could have an opposite effect!!

Relaxing- Calming effect on brain and nerves.
